Stage 2 High Blood Pressure
Blood pressure is the force that the blood in your
arteries exerts on the walls of the arteries during a normal heartbeat. It is
broken down into two numbers, the upper or systolic and the lower or the
diastolic. A normal number for blood pressure is 120/80 blood blood pressure
can really vary a lot around those numbers. There are several stages of high
blood pressure, however, that are determined according to how high these
numbers are. These different stages are pre-hypertension, stage one and stage
2 high blood pressure.
Pre-hypertension is defined as a systolic reading of 120
to 139 or a diastolic reading of 80 to 89. In order to be considered normal,
you must have a systolic reading of less than 120 and a diastolic reading of
less than 80. Stage one high blood pressure is defined as having a systolic
reading of 140 to 159 or a diastolic reading of 90 to 99. This is a dangerous
place for your blood pressure readings to be. Stage two high blood pressure is
one your systolic is 160 or higher or your diastolic is 100 or higher. Here
are some of the problems that are commonly associated with stage 2 high blood
pressure.
The body is an amazing thing and it is certainly able to
handle a little bit of additional blood pressure within the arteries. The
problem comes whenever this blood pressure is consistently high as is the case
in stage 2 high blood pressure. This pressure within the blood vessels can
injure the heart and also the kidneys the brain and even the eyes. Not only
can you experience heart failure, you may also have a stroke or kidney failure
which will potentially cause you to be disabled for life. Stage 2 high blood
pressure is not something that you should deal with on your own. Seek medical
attention if you feel or know that your blood pressure is at this level.
Failing to do so is like playing Russian roulette with your blood vessels.
